Hi, my name is Wil Horneff. I’m the head coach here at Training Grounds Jiu- Jitsu & MMA in bergen county nj. I am a black belt under Ralph Gracie and am a Pan American and U.S Open champion in jiu-jitsu.
I would like to invite you to take me up on my FREE 30 Day Trial. There is absolutely no obligation to join. I just want you to experience our relaxed friendly classes where you are going to get lots of personal attention and learn the best Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in NJ with a group of likeminded people.
While I have competed in and won international tournaments, my primary focus for studying Jiu-Jitsu in nj was on becoming a complete martial artist so that I could learn how to defend myself and my family. Not to mention it was an easy way to stay in top shape.
Going to the gym was too boring. Running on a treadmill....forget it. But by learning gracie jiu jitsu you’re able to get in shape while doing something that is so engaging that you don’t look at it as a chore.
I originally got into self-defense at the age of 23 because I wanted to learn how to defend myself. I was tired of always feeling vulnerable and lacking confidence. I wanted to know that if I needed to that I could defend myself against any aggressor. Because let’s face it, no one wants to feel powerless and there are a whole lot of people out there who would like nothing better than to make you feel that way.
I started my martial arts journey with learning boxing in Paterson at Lou Costellos Gym. I brought my striking up to a pretty decent level but then one day, a friend of mine who had been studying Gracie Jiu-Jitsu asked me to spar. The next thing I knew I was on my back and a few seconds later the lights went out. He had applied a choke and choked me out. I was hooked!
Over ten years later I can say that training Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and has come to define me. I walk around with a sense of confidence because I know I can defend myself and the people I love. I’m not stressed about situations that may arise. Additionally, I am always in great shape because I never have to think about going to the gym, hopping on the treadmill and “working out.” I don’t work out. Instead I “train gracie jiu jitsu,” and that keeps me strong, flexible, and in great shape.
At Training Grounds Jiu-Jitsu & MMA we have programs and curriculums to take from absolutely no experience in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to the black belt level. When you initially start you will be in our Foundations program which will teach you the basics of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu where you will focus on drilling and getting in great shape. It will lay the groundwork that you will use later on in the upper level programs. There is no sparring initially until a student is ready. Each person gets to progress at their own pace. The vast majority of people who train Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in nj at Training Grounds do it simply to learn how to effectively defend themselves and get in great shape by making a life style change.
I look forward to meeting you myself soon so that I can get you started on your own journey.

I'm in my 40's and was impressed that Wil was able to look at my body type and modify the training for me. He didn't expect me to do everything some 20 year old college wrestler does. He really takes the time to get to know you, your strength and weaknesses and customize the curriculum for you. I am very happy I joined his jujitsu school.

I searched for schools that taught Gracie Jiu-Jitsu In Bergen County because I'm a law enforcement officer and wanted to keep myself safe on the job...
- Steve Brown
Finding someone like Master Wil who really takes their time with you is like night and day compared to some of the other jujitsu schools that I have been to. The atmosphere here is very inviting...
- Frank Petrelli
There are no egos here. Everybody leaves their ego at the door and helps eachother learn. I am addicted to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and I'm going to stick with this until I get my black belt.
